* Police Operatives attached to Abagana Police Station resisted gunmen’s attack on the station and forestall the attackers from gaining entrance to the Police facility. The gunmen had earlier attacked, Anambra State Vigilante Operatives on patrol, murdered two of their operatives, and on approaching Abagana Police Station, started shooting sporadically to gain entrance to the Police Station.

* An Awka-based Political Scientist, Dr Emmanuel Obiano, has appealed to the National Leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), to adopt the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, as it’s candidate for the February 25th election. Obiano urged APGA leadership to do the same to Peter Obi, who is a son of the soil of Anambra State, what it did in 2015 when the party adopted Goodluck Jonathan

* Traders at Ogbaru Main Market in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State,  stand still while welcoming Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu who was returned to his office as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the market popularly known as Relief Main Market by the Governor of the State, His Excellency Charles Chukwuma Soludo. ANN recalled that Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu was elected in 2021 as the President General of Ogbaru Main Market but was thrown away by the governor of Anambra state on the assumption of his office on the ground of a leadership crisis in the said market.

* Chairmen of the 21 local government areas of Anambra state have all declared that they would fight tooth and nail to make sure the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) wins all the council areas in the state in the forthcoming general elections. The transition committee chairmen made the declaration while speaking  at the House of Assembly complex in Awka.

* Teachers in Anambra state have joined other civil servants in the state in appreciating Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the upward review of the salaries of Civil Servants. Their appreciation was conveyed through the Chairman, Post Primary Schools Services Commission (PPSSC), Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu in a press statement in Awka.

* Anambra State Director General of the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Committee, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, has said no fewer than ten political parties in the State have collapsed their structures in support of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, in the forthcoming 2023 Presidential election. Okonkwo disclosed this to Journalists shortly after the presidential management committee meeting held at the campaign headquarters in Awka

* House of Representatives candidate for Young Progressives Party, (YPP), Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Mr Kingsley Chukwudozie Uyammadu (Otosi Achalla) has said that Nigeria needs legislators that will feel the pains of the electorates and masses. 

Uyammadu who was at the Anambra secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, during the February congress of the union said Nigeria lacks legislators who knows and understands what it takes to make laws.

* APGA House of Representatives Candidate for Onitsha North & Onitsha South Federal Constituency, Hon Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo (Liver To Deliver) has promised an inclusive representation when elected and he will give job opportunities for the teeming youths in the Constituency. He made the call in an interactive meeting with Christian Youth Libration Forum (CYLF) in his residence in Onitsha.

* The candidate for House of Representatives, Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra State, under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu (Onyechimelu’eze) paid an unscheduled visit to Mgbuka Obosi market, in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State. Ike Cubana during the visit relayed his message of hope and greater Idemili to the visibly happy traders.

Speaking to the traders, Ike Cubana assured them of his readiness to take Idemili to greater heights, stating that he was skilled on how to get something out of nothing 

* The Association of Digital Media Core Advocates, ADMCA, is sensitizing journalists and bloggers across the states on conflict sensitive reporting, hate speech and ethnic contempt ahead of the 2023 General Elections and beyond. On Thursday, 16th February, 2023, ADMCA will conduct a sensitization forum for Journalists, Social Media Influencers and Bloggers from various media houses in Anambra. Some of the topics to be tackled include unpacking hate speech, incitement to violence laws and freedom of expression, the role of media in countering political intolerance, electoral violence and fake news.
