* Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, has officially flagged off the St. Lawrence Anglican Church-Ngene Mmiri Shrine-Iyi Utuko Stream-Ogado Village road in Awka South local government area of Anambra State. The Governor performed the function in the midst of ecstatic supporters and residents of the area. Soludo assured them that the road would be completed within the next few months
* The Member representing Dunukofia Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly and the APC Candidate for Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha Federal Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu (Cheleku) stormed Nawgu in Dunukofia Local Government Area as he kicks-off another round of Community Tour of Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha Federal Constituency ahead of the Presidential and National Assembly elections coming up on February 25th, 2023. Speaking at Afọr Nawgu, Ezeudu said that his antecedents, legislative experience, capacity, verifiable performance (projects, legislative outputs and motions) as Member representing Dunukofia Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly speaks volumes of his representative capacity clear.
* Coach of Enugu Rangers Football club, Abdul Maikaba has praised his players for there performance against Doma United at the match-day seven game played at the Awka City Stadium. Right full back Chidera Eze scored at the 38 minites through a penalty to give Rangers there second victory of the season.
* People from all walks of life recently, converged on Obi Ndionowu Anambra State at Amawbia, to observe the first annual memorial lecture series in honour of the late founder of Tonimas Nigeria Limited, Dr Anthony Enukeme who was also the founder and pioneer president of Anambra State council of traditional Prime Ministers, Ndionowu. The programme which was also used to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the Ndionowu as a council, attracted traditional rulers, traditional prime ministers of various communities across Anambra State, political appointees, friends and well-wishers.
* No fewer than five shops within the premises of Onitsha General Post Office, along Old Market Road, Onitsha, Anambra State, were gutted by fire. The incident, according to the source, occurred at about 12:30am as a result of power surge which emanated from one of the shops. Eyewitnesses said as the fire was about escalating into a nearby petrol filling station close to the scene, it created serious panic, before sympathisers with the help of local vigilante groups, made frantic effort and succeeded in controlling the raging inferno.
* An education consultancy firm, Stellated Bilateral Educational Consultancy, has begun a campaign for secondary school students in Anambra State to study foreign languages. Representatives of the organization made this known during a flagship programme on Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, “Nzuko Anambra”.
* Pope Francis on Sunday 12th February 2023 announced the establishment of the Catholic Diocese of Aguleri and appointed Bishop Denis Isizoh the Diocese’s pioneer Bishop. The Diocese of Aguleri has been curved from the Archdiocese of Onitsha, making it suffragan of the Metropolitan See of Onitsha.
Until his appointment as the new Local Ordinary of Aguleri Diocese, Bishop has been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha and Titular Bishop of Legia.
* The Ukpor-Umunoko-Nza-Ozubulu road (popularly called Afọr to Afọr), revalidated by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s government is ninety five percent complete.
A Flag-off ceremony was organized near Mbazulike Amaechi’s house, Ukpor, where assurances were given that the remaining markings will be done. According to the Governor, after his wide consultation, it was discovered that the road is a major one for the people of the area.
* The Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has reported issued a note of warning to the Labour Party senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, Chief Victor Umeh, to stop campaigning and parading himself as a candidate in the 2023 general election. This warning was contained in a press release credited to Mr. Okelo Madukaife, the Publicity Secretary of APC in the state.
* The pastor of Rhema Deliverance Ministry, Awka, Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu on Sunday distributed monies realized by his church from offering to poor members of his church.
The pastor who emptied the church’s offering box to members of his church also donated his personal money for distribution. Pastor Nwachukwu immediately after the offering ordered ushers in the church to bring out the offering box, while also asking that the monies be distributed to members of the church who had no food at home.
* It was a moment of reunion and homecoming as members of alumni association, Accountancy Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, all converged to be part of their first ever alumni converge. The maiden edition of the alumni converge also featured special recognition of the pioneer Head of the Department, Professor Benjamin Osisioma. Attended by alumni members of the department from the 1996 set, the event brought together other academics from the school who are excelling in different fields of endeavor.
