* The Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike has been declared winner of Ihiala federal constituency election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In the results announced by the Returning Officer for the Constituency, Anthony Okoye, eight parties participated with their candidates in the election. Giving a breakdown of the results, Prof Okoye announced that the party, ADC got 12 votes; APC 351; APGA 5,709; LP 3,536; NNPP 22; PDP 2,554; SDP 16; YPP 1313, while there were 2 votes for ANPP.
* Residents of Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum local government area of Anambra state have identified peace and transparent leadership as key to the development of any community.
To this end, the people have commended their traditional ruler, Igwe Alphonsus Ofuebe for taking a bold step towards ensuring that there is internal peace and rule of law in the agrarian community. They stated this during a cultural event to introduce Fifty Six Cabinet Chiefs that will be assisting the traditional ruler in running the affairs of the people .
* The candidate for New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), for Anambra Central in the red chamber, Helen Ifeoma Mbakwe, has decried the development and totally condemned the poor conduct of the election by INEC in her area, even as she expressed her intention to help in making a progressive Nigeria. Princess Mbakwe explained how INEC officials disenfrachised her from voting, alongside other electorates who she had long ago educated on how to cast their votes on the ballot paper where the party logo appeared, thereby making all her efforts to be in vain. According to her, the logo designed by INEC looked far different from what she explained to people during campaign.
* The Young Progressive Party (YPP) Senatorial candidate, Chinedu Umuadi has commended INEC for the peaceful election conducted across the district. Umeadi said he felt satisfied by the turnout of the electorates and condemned the use of BVAS machine during election, thereby calling on government to consider online voting as most preferred, which will enable the citizens to vote in the comfort of their zones and also change the campaign method.
* The representative of Njikoka 2 at the Anambra State House of Assembly and flagbearer of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for House of Representatives DNA, Pete Ibida said he had a robust expectation towards the election result due to the turnout of people who came to vote for him. Ibida who is the Chief Whip was Defeated by Chief George Ozodinobi of the Labour Party (LP)
* The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for Dunukofia Njikoka and Anaocha (DNA) Federal constituency Hon. Lawrence Ezeudo has congratulated Chief George Ozodinobi of the Labour Party (LP) for a resounding victory at the just concluded general election, wishing him a successful legislative term. Ozodinobi Defeated Hon. Pete Ibida (APGA), Prince Dr. Emeka Eze (PDP), Hon. Lawrence Ezeudo (APC), Hon. Barr. Valentine Ayika (ZLP), Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeokonkwo (YPP) and Sir Onyebuchi Impala (ADC) to emerge winner. Ezeudo in a letter of appreciation after the electoral process expressed appreciate to APC, his campaign team and teeming supporters.
* The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the senatorial candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, winner of the Anambra South senatorial election held on Saturday, February 25. The INEC Returning Officer for Anambra South 2023 senatorial election, Prof. Ebele Nwokoye, who announced the result at the collation centre in Nnewi on Monday, February 27, said that the YPP candidate polled 73,115 to win the election; while his closest rival, Hon. Chris Emeka Azubogu of APGA, occupied the second position with 45,369. LP and PDP trailed behind with 28,102 and 21,209 votes, respectively.
* About 7 SUV Vehicles were smashed at the Anambra South Senatorial District Collation Center Nnewi when the duo of People’s Democratic Party PDP candidate Chris Uba and All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA candidate Chris Azubogu allegedly escaped death. According to Chris Uba , Sen Ifeanyi Ubah ordered his security operatives to shoot him and Azubogu for coming to the Senatorial election collation center to stop him from rigging the election.
* Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu of Labour Party has been elected as Honourable Member-Elect to represent the good people of Awka North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Announcing the results at the Independence National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) local government area office at Amawbia, Anambra State, the Returning Officer, Dr. Uche Nnyagu, said out of 59,978 accredited voters, Prof. Orogbu polled a total of 34,713 votes to beat the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate (APGA) candidate, Hon. Obi Nwankwo, who came 2nd with a total of 24,814 votes. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Emeka Igwe came third with 12,850 votes, among other candidates who contested the February 25 National Assembly election.
* The collation centre for the presidential election located inside INEC Headquarters in Anambra State resumed declaration of results at about 12:05pm on Monday, with the announcement of results so far in 15 out of the 21 local government areas of the state.
Results from two local government areas had earlier been announced late on Sunday. So far, 15 local government results have been officially announced by the INEC in the state with the presidential candidate of the LP winning all 15.
* Tony Nwoye of the Labour Party has won the Anambra North Senatorial District election. Labour Party’s Tony Nwoye defeats Stella Oduah, ex-first lady, Ebele Obiano.
Nwoye defeated Senator Stella Oduah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Mrs Ebele Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Ebele is the former first lady of Anambra State. Senator Oduah, a former aviation minister, lost in all the seven local government areas of Anambra North Senatorial District, namely Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ogbaru, Anambra East, Anambra West and Ayamelum.
