* The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr Peter Obi, has won the Saturday’s presidential election in his home state in Anambra, leading in all the 21 local government areas of the state. Declaring the results of the poll, the collation officer in the state, Prof. Nnenna Oti who is the Vice Chancellor FUTO said Obi scored 584,621 votes.
* Presidential candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Peter Umeadi, has accused the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Victor Oye, and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of frustrating his ambition. Addressing journalists, Umeadi said he did not receive any form of support or encouragement from the duo, including funds. He stated that his achievements throughout the electioneering period were by personal efforts
* The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency in the just concluded House of Representatives election, Dr. Amaechi Nwachukwu has congratulated the candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Lady Maureen Chinwe Gwacham on her victory. Dr. Nwachukwu said electoral contests are like sports where winners and losers would always emerge and urges Lady Gwacham to use her mandate for the good of those who elected her.
* The All Progressives Congress, (APC) candidate for House of Assembly, Nnewi North Constituency in Anambra State, Comrade Chidozie Orizu has reaffirmed his commitment to transform Human Capital Development and Education in Nnewi North Constituency, also promised that his representation will attract development of constituency when voted into office. Comrade Orizu who gave the assurance during one of his consultation with Non-indignes living in Nnewi stated that he wants to be remembered as the man who attract transformed Human Capital Development and Education in the constituency.
* There are feelers that the ruling party in Anambra, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) are working to subvert the victory of Labour Party in Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
The popularity of Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party in Saturday’s election had cost APGA many National Assembly seats, as the party lost in many constituencies in the state. As at Tuesday, APGA from election results declared by INEC failed to get any seat out of the three senatorial zones, just as the Ogbaru election was yet to be officially declared.
* Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, the member representing Awka South 2 constituency in the 7th legislature of Anambra state has assured of a continued effort towards the development of education in his constituency.
The lawmaker gave the assurance during the commissioning of a staff quarters he donated to the staffs of Community Secondary School Isiagu, described education as a “key determinant of a progressive society.”
* The member representing Nnewi North constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly and the All Progressive Congress (APC) Candidate for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor has congratulated Uchenna Clement Nwachukwu Eleodimmuo on his victory at the just concluded general elections. “As usual, in every election, there must be a winner, and as someone who has participated in several elections, I believe that only one person can emerge as the winner and victory belongs to the people”. Okafor said
* Despite late arrival of materials and other hitches recorded in Saturday’s election, some voters in Awka have hailed both the federal and state governments for their support in the successful conduct of the election which most tagged, ‘ the most credible and fairest” election they have ever participated in. Even though some of the voters poured out their frustrations on the late arrival of voting materials and the long wait for the BVAS machine to work, they however expressed their satisfaction and joy that they were able to exercise their franchise.
* The member representing Awka South constituency 2 in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye (Ozo Mkpuluobi Amawbia) has received an award of Excellence in Community development. Okoye received the award based on Recognition of his selfless contributions and service towards the development of the community by the Association of Past President General, Anambra Central zone at his palatial home in Amawbia.
