Soludo, Okonjo-Iweala Were My Best Appointees: Obasanjo

Former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, said the governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala were the best appointments he made during his tenure.

ANN reports that Obasanjo made this statement at the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s One Year Score Card/Town hall meeting at the International Convention Center (ICC) Awka, Saturday March 25, 2023.

Obasanjo described Soludo as an experienced leader who has what it takes to transform Anambra State.

According to the former president;

“When I appointed Chukwuma Soludo as my economic adviser, we worked very closely and he never for one day mis-advised me. I was so happy with him that I decided to send him to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to become governor and he performed wonderfully well.

“When he informed me about his ambition to contest for Governor, I told him that I reserved national/international assignments for him but from what I have heard and seen, he has not disappointed me.”

Speaking on the five point agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Obasanjo commended the Anambra State government on the progress recorded on roads (261 km) despite having little resources, stating that he is confident that the governor will do a lot more in the next three years.

Obasanjo recommended that Anambra State government pays more attention on agriculture (Palm, cassava and poultry). He also advised Soludo to build human capacity.
