* Former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, said the Governor of Anambra state Professor Chukwuma Soludo and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala where the best appointments he made during his tenue.
ANN reports that Obasanjo made this statement at the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s One Year Score cards/Town hall meeting at the International Convention Center (ICC) Awka. Obasanjo described Soludo as an experienced leader who has what it takes to transform Anambra state.
* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) on behalf of the state government. ANN reports that the successful MOU signing ceremony which took place at Government House, Awka, is geared towards ensuring that power supply in the state is made available on a steady basis. Performing the function, Governor Soludo expressed optimism that the signing and execution will translate into positive changes, which is critical in his administration’s journey towards a liveable and prosperous homeland.
* Thirty-one petitions have been received from various political party candidates in the February twenty-fifth national assembly election in Anambra State. ANN gathered that seven of the petitions are for the Senate, while twenty-four are for the Federal House of Representatives.
* Anambra State government says the monthly sanitation exercise slated for Saturday March 25 was shifted to Saturday April 1, 2023. The postponement, according to a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, is to prepare the state’s environment for April Easter celebration.
* The government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo says the days of imposition of community leaders in the state are gone. The Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Anambra State, Hon TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, who disclosed this in Awka, said it was in line with the state government’s resolve to encourage democracy in the grassroots and boost development.
* A youth identified as a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Anambra State and three others arrested last year in separate locations in Aguata Local Government Area of the state are yet to be found. This is coming as allegation of organ harvest is rocking the Anambra State Police. Parents of the youths, who were in Awka, during a stakeholders meeting of media and Civil Society Groups, under the auspices of Anambra State Police Stakeholders Partnership Forum lamented that one year after their children were arrested by police operatives, they were yet to be found.
* Anambra state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said more effort is been made towards increasing public awareness on the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis and that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration has step up efforts to end the epidemic. Dr. Obidike revealed that the current administration in the state has remained focused in making sure that TB programme is given all the necessary support. The health commisioner also revealed that Anambra has detected more than eight thousand cases.
