* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo says mothers should show more commitment towards promoting moral values at home and in the society. Mrs Soludo stated this in Awka in a message to mark the 2023 Mothers’ day of the Catholic church. According to the Governor’s wife, mothers and indeed women must rise up to the demands of protecting social values, and do what must be done to ensure that both the home and society are saved from social decay.

* The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State chapter has congratulated Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for the success of his administration in the sports sector. Anthony Orji, chairman of SWAN in Anambra State who spoke to journalists after the one year anniversary town hall meeting at the International Convention Centre in Awka, expressed worry that Soludo did not mention activities in the sports sector as part of his achievement.

* The State Chairman of The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Anambra State,  Emeka Obi, has met with all the 21 local government coordinators in Anambra State and documents, forms and terms of the league have been discussed, sign and approved. The league will be in partnership with Brainbox Foundation

* Chukwuemeka Ezeife, a former governor of Anambra State, has spoken out against the attacks on Igbos in Lagos during the just concluded gubernatorial election. He said that if the country’s two major ethnic groups, the Yoruba and Igbo, are pitted against each other, then there is a premeditated scheme to eliminate Nigeria. Speaking further, the elder statesman expressed fear that if the profiling of Igbos continues, they might get violent and fight back.

* Senator-Elect for Anambra Central, Senator Dr Victor Umeh, together with his wife, Lady Prisca Umeh paid courtesy visit on the former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and renowned Igbo Activist, Prof Pita Ejiofor in Obeledu, Anaocha LGA. The visit was to ascertain the pace of his recovery from a recent ailment and to intimate the statesman on the outcome of the 2023 General Election which took place while he was on medical trip overseas.

* Anambra State teachers have been charged to engage students in activities to make their teachings learner-centered. The chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, gave the charge while speaking in a workshop, organized for the newly recruited teachers in Awka Zone, at St John of God Secondary School, Awka. Professor Ikediugwu reminded the newly recruited teachers that teaching is a noble profession and mother of other professions hence teachers should strive to live up to the enviable position of the profession.

* The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has said that Anambra State needs more young intelligent people with character and clear-cut vision like Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Annual Retreat Conference of Awka Diocesan Council of Laity held at Saint John’s Church Okpuno, Bishop Ibezim reminded Ndi Anambra that the Soludo administration needs prayers to achieve results as Anambra helmsman, and called for political unity in the Southeast in order to achieve common goal.

* The determination of the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD to enhance Education in the zone remains glaring as the Federal Lawmaker  recently inspected the ongoing construction of a Science and Technology Classroom Block at Community secondary school, Obeledu in Anaocha LGA. Inspecting the project, Ekwunife reiterated her commitment to seeing the project completed before the end of her tenure, adding that during her campaign in 2019, she promised to attract laudable and impactful projects to communities. She expressed happiness that the project is near completion.

* The President, Catholic Women Organization of St.Patrick’s Cathedral parish Awka, Mrs. Helen Eze has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration for being indeed a solution provider to the needs of the people of the state. Mrs. Eze gave the verdict during this year’s  celebration of mothers at St.Patrick’s cathedral parish Awka. The CWO president commended Soludo for his development blueprint which has impacted positively  in reshaping the fortunes of the state.

* A self-acclaimed pastor in Anambra State, identified as Arinze Obiwenite has allegedly raped his 12-year-old daughter. Reportedly confessing his incestuous act, the pastor who was said to have 11 wives , said he enjoyed the daughter more than any of the wives.

Obiwenite, who hails from Abacha community in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, was said to have been molesting most of his daughters for years until the bubble burst in the case of the 12 year-old daughter.
