* Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has inspected the State Drug Revolving Fund facility in Awka. Dr. Obidike said that the Drug Revolving Fund is aimed at strengthening the health system by creating sustainable processes and infrastructure further down the supply chain. The Commissioner explained that the objective of the Drug Revolving Fund is to make quality assured health supplies consistently available at both State and Local Government levels for the benefit of patients. He noted that one of the importance of the Drug Revolving Fund is that the drugs are original, affordable, and that manufacturer’s supplies directly to the Drug Revolving Fund thereby eliminating fake.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu has assured the people of the area of his determination to ensure a clean and safe environment across the fifteen communities of the council area. Prince Uchendu who gave the assurance during the launch of the second phase of the Clean and Green Initiative of Governor Soludo at Umunze, commended the Governor for his efforts to guarantee proper waste management and overall sanitation in the state.
* The Anglican Diocese Of Awka has hosted the 2023 Lenten Prayer Convention with the theme “God of Divine Intervention”, to usher in Holy Week. The prayer convention which took place at Chapel of Redemption, UniZik Permanent Site, Awka attracted members of clergy and faithful who came to seek God’s face. Addressing the gathering, the Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop, Diocese Of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim said the lenten prayer convention has become an annual gathering where Christians seek face of God.
* Anambra State Chairman of Radio and Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU, Comrade Maureen-Stone Enujoke, has stressed the need for cooperation amongst members to achieve the vision and objectives of the union and protect the interest of members. Speaking in Awka during a meeting of the union, Comrade Enujoke said that the challenges facing members of the union could be easily addressed through harmonization and collective approach, and advised members to remain committed to efficient service delivery in their various departments to build a stronger workforce.
* In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration initiative of a Clean, Green and Sustainable Environment, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Honourable Chuksbrown Igboanua has kicked off operation open your drainage system in the area. The Chairman who led Transition Committee members, Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Rita Chike Obuekwe, other Management team, Environmental Health Officers and Security Agencies to Afor Nkpor Market, Nkpor Junction and Oye-olisa Market Axis along Old Road Ogidi, said that the exercise is to ensure that water flows freely anytime it rains.
* Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo has described the death of Master Kambilichukwu Edochie, the sixteen year-old first son of an ace Nollywood actor Mr Yul Edochie, as very sad. The Governor’s wife, who stated this in a statement released in Awka, said the shock of the child’s death has created a deep wound in the heart of many which will take a very long time to heal.
The Governor’s wife described the late Master Kambilichukwu as an intelligent child and easygoing soul.
* Anambra State Government says it is seeking to partner the federal government and development partners to tackle erosion menace. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency, ANSEWCCA, Professor Philip Phil-Eze, disclosed this while speaking in Awka.
