One Of The Cheapest Countries In The World Has Officially Launched Its Digital Nomad Visa

Colombia has officially launched its digital nomad visa, and it’s one of the most accessible choices for digital nomads looking for an affordable place to live.

This South American nation has long been a popular hub for digital nomads and expats, who are drawn to Colombia’s vibrant culture, diverse landscapes, and low cost of living.

Colombia is now joining many other countries around the world in launching digital nomad visas specifically designed for remote workers and entrepreneurs who want to live abroad long-term.

Here’s everything you need to know about Colombia’s new digital nomad visa:

Colombia’s New Digital Nomad Visa

Colombia’s digital nomad visa will allow successful applicants to live in the country for up to two years.

Without a visa, it’s only possible for Americans to stay in Colombia for 90 days, which can then be extended by another 90 days, for a total of 180 days in one year.

So the visa is ideal for Americans (or other nationalities) who want to spend more than six months out of the year living in Colombia.

In order to apply, applicants will need to provide proof of employment from their home country (or proof of self-employment) and demonstrate earnings of at least 3 million Colombian pesos per month, or approximately $655 USD per month. Applicants will also need to demonstrate proof of health insurance.

This makes the Colombian digital nomad visa one of the easiest to apply for, given the reasonable income requirements.

The visa is available for citizens with a valid passport from countries on the list of those exempt from needing a short-stay visa for Colombia.

This includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and most of Europe and Latin America.
