The Chairman, Anambra State House of Assembly committee on works, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma has commended the quality of jobs done so far on the drainages on Obosi road.
Ifedioramma who led the House of Assembly Committee on Works on an oversight visit at the road for on-the-spot assessment of the project charged the construction firm to expedite action on it. The committee urged them to complete the project within the time frame before the rainy season sets in.
ANN reports that when the committee arrived at the project site, it discovered that the one point six-kilometer road has advanced to stone base stage with the drainages nearing completion. The Committee also inspected Uzii and Edeh roads all in Okpoko which have been asphalted.
On his part, the Project Manager, Mr. Naji Aride said they have commenced the process of asphalting the road project, assuring that it will be completed next month.
At School Road, Okpoko, the committee observed that work is ìn progress but noticed that the width of the road is six meters, which they said needs to be expanded for easy passage of vehicles.
In his reaction, the member representing Ogbaru One Constituency in the State Assembly, Honourable Noble Igwe expressed worry over flood menace that threatens the area whenever it rains and urged the construction firm handling the project to embark on environmental impact assessment before commencing any construction work on the road to arrest the ugly situation.
A resident of the area, Mr. Eze Echieteka expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts to make the area livable by constructing the dilapidated roads in Okpoko.
The Project Manager, Mr Aride informed the committee that they removed all the unsuitable materials on the road to pave way for the next stage.
