* Police says the news of a Catholic Priest kidnapped in Anambra is a pure example of a sensational report. In a release by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, PPRO Anambra State Police Command stated that the investigation into the debriefings of the victim by operatives is still ongoing as the command wishes to state categorically that information gathered so far shows that he is not a clergyman or a priest. “Further details shall be communicated,” he said.
* Anambra State House of Assembly at their recent plenary, confirmed Mr. Christian Chukwudozie Udechukwu as the Commissioner for Industry.
The lawmakers made the consideration and confirmation after the presentation of report by the chairman house committee on screening and election matters, Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike who is also the deputy speaker. Agbodike at the committee of the whole said after inviting Mr. Udechukwu for screening, they were satisfied and convinced that he is suitable and worthy for the position. The deputy speaker recommended that Udechukwu be considered and confirmed as the Commissioner for Industry.
* The traditional ruler of Nawfia Community, Njikoka Local Government Area, Igwe Daniel Obelle, his wife, Lady Florence and family members accompanied by Nawfia Royal Cabinet, and the people of the town, their friends and well-wishers, danced to the altar to give thanks to God for a successful and fruitful one year on the throne. The thanksgiving service at Saint Michaels and all Angels Anglican Church Nawfia, attracted people from all walks of life, including traditional rulers among others as they gathered to celebrate the Nawfia Monarch.
* The President-General of Nimo Town Development Union, Chief Ekenenna Omabu Okafor, says the brouhaha over the status of Owa Land, now known as Obodo Oma Estate, Nimo, has no basis as those farming on the land have always held it on trust for the community as agreed by the town years ago. The PG was reacting to allegations by some protesters from the community recently in which they accused the leadership of the town of selling Owa Land which they insisted, was communally owned. But throwing more light on the issue, the PG said that over the years, most Nimo families farmed on portions of the land and held same on trust for the community and that there was never a time Nimo Community assigned any portion of the said land to anyone.
* As the 7th Anambra assembly led by Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor rounds up its tenure in few weeks time, the lawmakers have recounted their journey, reviewed their performance and the lessons learned. Speaking with correspondents at the assembly complex, the legislators revealed how the 7th assembly performed and is still performing its functions, stating that they will be remembered for passing life changing bills and motion.
* Igbo-Ukwu community in Aguata Local Government Area, Ezeife family members , other relatives, friends and well-wishers have celebrated the centenary birthday anniversary of Sir Justus Chinwike-Ezeife. Sir Justus, born in 1923, is the first person from the community, and the second in the old Aguata Local Government to obtain a B.A degree from the University of London, among other feats achieved.
* The member representing Anambra West State Constituency in the Anambra House of Assembly, Honourable Patrick Obalum-Udoba, has commended the Clean, Green and Sustainable Initiative of the current administration in the state. Hon. Obalum-Udoba made the commendation while fielding questions from newsmen in Awka. The lawmaker, who rated Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration high in various sectors of the state’s economy, said that the initiative would help to make Anambra cleaner and environmentally friendly.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon.(Mrs) Amaka Obi has said that the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo is connecting many communities in the state with roads and bridges.
