* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has reiterated call for the church to rise to the occasion and take responsibility for a better Anambra State. Soludo made the call during the first session and formal opening of the 13th Synod of the Anglican Communion in the State, which was held at St. Peters Anglican Church in Agulu.
* The Anambra State Chairman of Miners Association of Nigeria, Chief Henry Igboeli enjoined residents of Anambra State to join hands with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s government to protect the environment by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages and maintaining regular sanitation and cleaning of environment. Igboeli also asked market leaders to sensitize their members on the need to comply with environmental laws and ensure proper disposal of waste at designated locations, noting that these would enable the people to live a healthy life and make the state a reference point in the country.
* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi has held a meeting with Anambra Town Announcers in the Head Office of the Agency in Awka aimed at marketing the scheme. Addressing the town announcers, Dr. Onyemaechi said that the Agency has registered 183,000 Anambra residents into the scheme, noting that Gov. Charles Soludo has given them a mandate to quickly ramp up the coverage.
* Anambra Governor’s Wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has said that the recent donation of one thousand, two hundred and twelve delivery kits, also known as Mama kits, to the state by the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, will be crucial in tackling neonatal and maternal deaths especially in rural areas of Anambra State. Mrs. Soludo, who stated this in Awka while getting briefing on the donation, commended UNICEF, World Health Organization, WHO, and other development partners that are working with the state government, for supporting the development visions the State Government.
* The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, Mr. Tony Olofu, has affirmed that Nigeria Police Force is winning the war against insecurity in the zone. AIG Olofu, recently took over from AIG Abutu Yaro, to become the sixth AIG of Zone 13 since its formation at Ukpo, Anambra State. Later in an interview, AIG Olofu, assured the people of Anambra and Enugu States of his readiness to combat criminality in the zone.
* The Managing Director, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr Simeon Onyemaechi has received an award of integrity in stewardship from Center of Peace and Self-value Reorientation, a Non Government Organization (NGO). The award was presented to him by the Executive Director, Center of Peace and Self-value Reorientation, Mr Abraham Oyibo in his office in Awka.
* The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim, Ph.D., has urged Christians all over the world to seize the 13th Diocesan Synod as an opportunity to obtain blessings and favour from God. He said the programme is geared towards the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ and an opportunity to enjoy a fellowship with Christ that is worth more than money, silver, and gold.
* The pilot group of youths who engaged in the ‘1 Youth 2 Skills initiative’ of Goveenor. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State have enrolled in the second phase of the skill acquisition program, which is the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI). The EDI which is ongoing at all the 21 Local Government Areas Secretariats is to educate those trainees who have completed their four-months skill acquisition training on how to manage their skill until it grows into viable Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as a money spinning venture.
* Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe (Agbogidi), Obi of Onitsha, and Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers of Council, has described Mr Peter Obi, as ‘Man of Destiny.’ Igwe Achebe made this description in his opening remarks at the presentation of the book, “Peter Obi: Many voices, One Perspective’ in Awka, the Anambra State Capital. The book is co-edited by four seasoned writers, including the first female Professor of Mass Communication in the Sub-Saharan Africa, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna; Valentine Obienyem; Daniel Onwukwe; and Esin Onukwugha Osuji.
* Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has been honoured with the Most outstanding Innovative Leadership Award for the year 2022 by the National Daily, a Lagos based publication. ANN reports that the award was received on behalf of the Governor by the Commissioner of Information, Sir Paul Nwosu supported by Dame Virgy Etiaba, Former Governor of the state.
