The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko has banned in its entirety, the crossing of Enugu -Onitsha expressway by UNIZIK Temporary site junction Awka through the drainage channels, rather than making use of the pedestrian bridge.
The ban according to Onuko is to prevent accidents that most times result to fatalities as well as ensure discipline in the area.
Mr. Onuko while saying that any defaulter will pay N5,000 fine, wondered why people will abandon the pedestrian bridge which has been provided by the State government and be endangering their lives along the express.
The ACTDA’S boss warned road users to abide by the new directive as the agency has established a well fortified enforcement team that will apprehend anybody who goes against the new order no matter how highly placed.
He made it clear that ACTDA has chased out those trading on top of the pedestrian bridge as well as ensured that the bridge is constantly neat.
