ACTDA Seals Off Illegal Excavation Site At Three Arms Zone Awka

Awka Capital Development Authority, ACTDA, has sealed off an illegal excavation site at Three Arms Zone, Awka, the Anambra state capital.

The Managing Director of ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko, who led the enforcement team, noted that the impact of the excavation on environment is enormous which makes it worrisome, adding that the excavators must be stopped.

Onuko explained that in addition to other damages already done, including threats to electricity infrastructure, if the illegal excavation is allowed to persist, major roads in the capital city will be cut off because of selfish interests of a few individuals.

The ACTDA boss warned that any tipper or vehicle seen on the sealed sites afterwards will be impounded for necessary actions, just as he warned other illegal excavators elsewhere to desist forthwith in their interest.

Angel Network News reports that the excavation site is a government land initially mapped out for Anambra State Governor’s Lodge, Government House and Legislative Quarters.

During the operation embarked upon by the enforcement team of ACTDA, one Mr. Onyebuchi Nwosu, who was identified as the ringleader of the excavators, was declared wanted for refusing to stop the illegality after several warnings.
