Activist Adeyanju Questions BBNaija Winners’ Financial Status

Controversial human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has questioned the financial fate of past winners of the popular reality television show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), alleging that many ultimately become poorer after their victory.

The activist raised his concerns on Monday via his X handle, suggesting that the organizers might not be fully transparent about the prize money.

“Do they really give BBNaija winners the prize money?” Adeyanju wrote, continuing, “The reason I am asking is because many of them end up looking extremely broke thereafter.”

Concerns Over Financial Stability

Adeyanju’s comments were posted barely a day after Imisi was crowned the winner of the tenth season of the show, walking away with a grand prize reported to be N150 million.

The post triggered immediate mixed reactions across social media, with fans of the show challenging the activist to substantiate his claims by naming specific former winners who have purportedly become poorer.

The commentary also recalls previous public instances where former winners expressed issues with the collection of their prizes. In 2022, Phyna, the winner of the show’s seventh edition, publicly raised concerns about her own unpaid prize elements.

Adeyanju did not immediately respond to requests to name specific individuals to back his claim.
