AFCON: Eagles’ Boss, Peseiro Urges Players to Eat Pasta Ahead of Angola Clash

José Peseiro urges Super Eagles to eat Pasta ahead of the AFCON 2023 clash against Angola.

In the Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will take on Angola.

In this last-16 match, the Nigerians had an early Semi Ajayi goal disallowed due to a VAR review.

However, Victor Osimhen’s relentless pressing and intimidation of the Cameroon defense resulted in Lookman scoring in the 36th minute.

The Indomitable Lions were then held at bay by a team that has proven impervious at this AFCON, and in front of 22,085 spectators at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Lookman ensured victory in the 90th minute.

They will now play again at the same location on Friday of next week in a last-eight match against Angola, who overcame Namibia 3-0 earlier.

Cameroon’s Coach Rigobert Song on loss to Nigeria

After the match Rigobert Song Head Coach of Cameroon explained the loss to Nigeria.

He said, “We had the youngest team; there are players who are discovering.

“We gave the opponent the opportunity to put us in difficulty; it’s part of the game.

“As I’ve said before, we are in reconstruction. It’s by making these mistakes that we will grow. Football is like that.

“The AFCON is a competition that is played on all levels: technical, tactical, and especially mental. I have a youthful that is discovering; it played, and we still have a lot to learn.”

He said, “We will now focus on our next match against Angola, which is having an excellent tournament.

“We must take this opponent seriously, so we will continue to sleep early and eat pasta (laughs). Jokes aside, all the teams at this stage are capable of winning the tournament.”

The Super Eagles now have three more obstacles to win a fourth AFCON title.
