AFCON: Okocha, Musa, Osimhen Other Eagles’ Stars Call Fans to Order Over Cyberbullying of Iwobi

  • The entire Super Eagles players throws their support to Alex Iwobi who have been dragged over AFCON lost to Ivory Coast

Fulham and Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi have been under pressure and constant dragging by Nigerian football fans who have accorded blames on the UK-based midfielder for what is described as ‘in passionate style of play’ which many believe to have cost Nigeria a 2-1 AFCON lost in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The entire squad including the Captain, Williams Troost-Ekong, Ahmed Musa and the likes of Stanley Nwabali, Victor Osimhen, Terim Moffi, Aribo, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, Simon Moses, and legendary Austin Jay Jay Okocha have all cheered the 27-year-old while calling stop the cyberbullying.

Osimhen had taken to his Instagram stories to say that “some of our fans can do better”, stating that “we lose together, we win together”.

Musa who never had a playing time throughout the 2023 AFCON wrote on X: “Dear fans, I want to please urge you to halt the cyber-bullying directed towards Alex Iwobi. Cyber bullying is not just a violation of decency but also a serious crime. It’s hypocritical to claim that football unites us while engaging in such behavior.

“Losing a game is undoubtedly tough, but targeting a single player for the team’s shortcomings is unfair and unjust. We win as a team, and we lose as a team. Alex gave his all on the field, just like every member of our squad.

“Instead of spreading negativity, let’s show genuine love and support to our players. They need our encouragement now more than ever. Let’s uplift each other and stand united, both in victory and defeat. 👏🦅🇳🇬 THANKS”, Musa said.

Okocha also wrote: “I pray for my country Nigeria and the people that can only hate and see nothing good in others, when effort counts for nothing, treat people the way you want them to treat you,all we have is this life is each other, we love you @alexanderiwobi ❤️and we keep going no matter what they say,the lord is good all the time and we trust that his will be done in our lives amen 🙏”

Recall that Iwobi purge all videos and pictures on his official Instagram page following heavy backlash from fanatic Nigerian football fans.
