Nnewi-born philanthropist and business mogul, Dr. Kingsley Chukwukeme, has set aside millions of naira to sponsor a football tournament for Nnewi Youth Forum.

the football tournament is part of activities to mark the 2024 Nnewi Cultural Festival, popularly known as Afiaolu Nnewi Festival.
The sponsor of the tournament, Dr. Kingsley Chukwukeme, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Nwaguatahihia Motors Limited, United State of America, has set aside millions for the football competition, both for cash prizes, jerseys and other logistics.
Chukwukeme’s decision to sponsor the tournament, came after the visit of a high-powered delegation of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi made up of the Chairman 2024 Afiaolu Nnewi Committee, Prince Jude Osumuoh, Secretary-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, Chief Augustine Jideofor, and Mr. Amobi Adukwulu, to High Prince Chukwudi Ubah, who is a close associate of Dr. Kingsley Chukwukeme.
The tournament is designed not only to celebrate Afiaolu Festival, but also to unite youths across the four (4) communities in Nnewi, which are Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi.
To encourage participants, the community that wins the competition will go home with One Million Naira (₦1,000,000), while the first runner-up will be given Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦750,000). For the second runner-up, the cash prize is Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000), while the consolation prize is Three Hundred Thousand Naira (₦300,000).
ANN gathered that the tournament will kick off with the match between Uruagu and Umudim, on Sunday, 25th August, which will be followed up with a match between Otolo and Nnewichi on 26th August. The third place match will be on 29th August, while the final match will be on 31st August.
According to Dr. Kingsley Chukwukeme, who is also known as Agudiebube Na Nnewi, the competition is also designed to honour His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Kenneth Orizu (III), Obi Uruagu, His Highness, Obi Afamefuna Charles Obi (Ogidi IV), Obi Umudim, Obi Benneth Okafor (Amakwu), and Obi Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba (Obidiugwu).
