Sen. Godswill Akpabio, the Nigerian senate president, has revealed the number of bills introduced and passed in just two years.
During a joint session with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Democracy Day, Akpabio stated that 844 legislations have been passed since the inception of the 10th National Assembly.
Akpabio also revealed that 499 bills have advanced to the second stage in the Senate, while 107 bills are currently in committee stages.
“The Senate has introduced 844 bills within two years. 107 bills are currently at various committee stages, 499 bills have advanced to the second stage in the Senate. The Senate has also acted on 26 executive bills to address key policy issues for the benefit of Nigerians. Again, over 100 petitions were received from Nigerians seeking redress and transparency.
The Senate president also stated that no other Nigerian senate has held that record of bills in just two years. He also encouraged senators not to listen to critics who call them names.
