Algerian, French Foreign Ministers Meet Over Gaza War

Algerian foreign minister Ahmed Attaf and his French counterpart Stephane Sejourne have discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip over the phone.

According to a statement by the Algerian foreign ministry, the two ministers discussed the dire conditions confronting the Palestinian population in Gaza amid the ongoing war.

The statement said the ministers emphasised the urgent need for the UN Security Council to intervene and address the escalating humanitarian crisis in the territory.

They also highlighted the importance of reaching a permanent and unconditional ceasefire, said the statement.

Both ministers agreed to revive the peace process, aiming to achieve a just, enduring, and inclusive resolution to the Palestinian issue based on the principles of the two-state solution.

Messrs Attaf and Sejourne also discussed bilateral cooperation in various areas in addition to the preparations for forthcoming high-level meetings.

Algeria, since assuming its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council in January, has actively worked on passing a draft resolution advocating a ceasefire in Gaza.
