The First Edition of Ambassador Eziaha Uwaezuoke Football Championship has been kicked off in Umuogele Amuda Isuochi, Umunneochi local government area of Abia State.
Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that
the competition will have twelve football clubs from Abia, Imo and Enugu state slugging it out in four different groups.
The trophy is being sponsored by the Regional Director, PWAN Homes, South East Zone, Ambassador Eziaha Uwaezuoke ,leading and trusted name in real estate business.
The Opening Ceremony match was played between the host homeside team, BOHOLD football club of Isuochi and Abia Warriors of Umuahia Under 17 team .
Chrisnak stadium, Amuda Isuochi, venue of the encounter witnessed massive turnout of football enthusiasts including traditional rulers, and religious leaders .
Several talented coaches and Scouting agents including Former Rangers and Enyimba coach, Onyebuchi Nosike among others were on ground to ensure that the aspirations of the Sponsor comes to fruition.
In an Interview, the real estate guru and Regional Director PWAN Homes, South East Zone, Ambassador Eziaha Uwaezuoke said by the end of the Championship competition, he intends to support and support at least 5 under 17 players up to the International arena to continue their trade.
According to him after proper background check and considerations , he decided to come up with the Championship to give the teaming youths a platform to become football ambassadors.
Ambassador Uwaezuoke regretted that in the past so many persons had floated football Championships but only for their political gains rather than making effort to discover raw talents in the grassroots.
The Umuogele Amuda Isuochi born, told our Correspondent that his passion a as to ensure that youths are engaged with sporting activities which will in turn take their minds off crime and other societal ills.
He therefore called on the Federal and State governments as well as football managers across the country to be more sincere and specific in the development of Sports sector which is not only for fame but guarantees economic turnaround.
” I have seen that many youths are enthusiastic about football but sadly they are not getting the needed support. So that is what prompted me to see how I can come to contribute towards having a better society through football. This young boys are promising youths that are willing, dedicated and ever ready to put in their best in any organized sporting event. So my target is just to give them a boost and discover talents . I intend to sincerely spo sponsore at least three players to join International clubs. I am not going to stop until this dream is achieved and made manifest. ” Ambassador Eziaha Uwaezuoke added.
The Cordinator of the Championship and Founder, Bohold FC, Onyemaechi Eze said twelve teams will be participating in the game including, Giant Brillars FC of Enugu, Ekomzy Classic from Owerri, Imo state, FC Baresi, Abia Warriors, Taiti FC of
Umuaku, and Temper Collers FC of Amuda
Other teams are Sporters United, Young Boys FC, Bright FC from Nneato, Pioneer FC and Bohold FC
Onyemaechi Eze said all the teams will keep playing in two groups of A and B till it gets to quarter , Semi and Finals which will be played at the Chrisnak Stadium Isuochi.
He expressed the hope that the competition will no doubt empower the youths, reduce crime and expose them to more brighter future as notable coaches and Scouting agents were already on ground to identify the raw talents.
Chidiebere Onyegbulem, Chairman Local Organizing Committee for Ambassador Eziaha Uwaezuoke Football Competition, rated the Championship very high saying that the passion of the Initiatiator about promoting grassroots football and local coaches was impressive as well as commendable.
