The Chief of Staff to former Governor Willie Obiano, Chief Primus Odili has urged the Anambra State populace and Igbo nation by extension to support reelection of Governor Chukwuma Soludo come November 8 gubernatorial poll.
Chief. Odili promised continued support
and partnership with Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), but urged practitioners to be careful with information they put out for public consumption.
Odili, who made the call at the NUJ October Congress held in Awka, Anambra State capital, argued that reelecting Soludo would help to sustain the government of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) whose legacies to him, were too numerous to mention.
He also urged the people to stop comparing all the government of Anambra State under the APGA because according to him, they all performed credibly as APGA government.
“APGA recovered what one party that came in between sold. We have never heard of burning down structures of government, selling government properties and others since APGA government took over the mantle of leadership in Anambra. It has been development and development up till now.
“APGA government started rebuilding of Anambra under Mr Peter Obi. At end of Obi’s tenure, Obiano came in and continued with the development under APGA. Now Soludo has continued under the same APGA. All the governors of Anambra State produced by APGA are developing the State simultaneously.
“APGA has done so well under Soludo. He is towing the good steps left by his predecessors under the APGA, and he is developing all parts of the stats. We have to give to it him. We must be fair in our assessment and evaluation of what Soludo has done in office within this three years plus. I want you to be fair in your narrative or report because the way we present what we have to the world can destroy or make us stronger.
” Whatever you do as a journalist can make or mar the development. As voice of the people, we need to rally support for the APGA government to continue in Anambra State, and penetrate to other parts of the Southeast geopolitical zone. The Yoruba used AD, later AC (ACN and lately APC) to develop Lagos,” he stated.
Earlier speaking, the Chairman of the NUJ, Anambra State Council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu commended the former Chief of Staff, assuring him that the journalists would continue to be professional projecting the image of Anambra to the world.
