Anambra state House of Assembly has called on the Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for transport and other relevant agencies to immediately commence a clampdown on motorist, and motorcycle using artificial headlamps at nights.

The member representing Anaocha 2 Constituency, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu the chief sponsor of the motion during his presentation stated that it is wrong for most motorists, especially truck drivers to install added fog lamps in their vehicles.
According to Hon. Okechukwu “All vehicle manufacturers equip their vehicles with proper and commensurate headlamps. These fog lamps installed by these motorists have caused many havocs and fatal accidents on our roads, leading to so many injuries and deaths;
“If these artificial headlamps are identified by the relevant government agencies under the Ministry of Transport and law enforcement agencies, and dismantled, accidents on our roads, especially at nights, will be reduced by at least thirty percent.
“This vehicles should be clampdown, arrested and pay fin for in-dangering peoples life. The keke and shuttle drivers are imetating them.

Hon. Tony Muobike, Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi, Hon. Obi Nweke, Hon. Jude Umennajiego. Hon. Chucks Azotani, Hon. Golden iloh, Hon. Chidi Ibemeka, Hon. Fred Ezenwa and Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke called on the Anambra state Governor to intervene.
“Anambra state is the light of the nation and we have to lead by example. This is a life saving motion.
“We need to cation motorcycle using artificial headlamps at nights because the rate of accidents cause by this artificial lights is high.
” Some of this drivers act out of ignorance, while others want to show supremacy over others. Even private vehicles.
” This motion bothers on lawlessness and recklessness of drivers who refused to follow led down rules and it should be attended to.
“No society functions without regulations and proper rules and as lawmakers, we have to ensure that proper regulations are followed.
