Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for works to facilitate the construction of pedesyrian bridge at Regina Caeli Junction Awka, Old Tracas Upper Iweka Onitsha; Okpoko by travellers junction and Obodo Ukwu-Eze Iweka road Ogbaru.

Chief sponsor of the motion Rt. Hon. Nobel Chukwunonso Igwe said this junctions play host to one of the most busiest bus-stops traversing the major highways in Awka and Onitsha Metropolis.
Hon. Igwe who is the member representing Ogbaru One constituency stated that the population of people crossing these spots on daily basis is high including primary and secondary school students with the attendant risk.
“The speed at which vehicles accelerates on these bus stops is quite high due to the sloppy nature of the roads.
“The rate at which accidents happen on the aforementioned spots is quite alarming and it often results to loss of life and various degrees of accident Casualties
” If pedestrian bridge is built across these areas, the rate of accidents happening on the said spots would be minimal or reduced drastically
“This motion is targeted at reducing and minimizing the risk associated with crossing the high ways.
“We have two major high ways in Anambra state; the Onitsha-Enugu high way and the Onitsha-Owerre high way. On daily bases, we witness lost of lives and also high level of accident casualties on this roads.
” The importance of this pedestrian bridge cannot be over emphasize because it is ndi Anambra that will benefit from it’, Hon. Igwe submitted.
