Anambra Assembly Calls For Continuation Of Ezego, Ubahuekwem Osoakwa, Oluoha Okechukwu Roads In Ihiala

Anambra Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for works, to ensure the continuation and speedy completion of the ongoing road construction work at Ezego, Ubahuekwem Osoakwa road and Oluoha Okechukwu road in Ihiala local government area so as to open up the area for enhanced business activities and revenue generation.

Chief Sponsor of the motion Hon. Jude Ngobili

Chief Sponsor of the motion Hon. Jude Ngobili the member representing Ihiala one constituency, during his presentation, said the state government is poised to make Anambra state one of the most habitable states in Nigeria via the construction of good road networks in the state of which without bias, we all can testify to this

According to Hon. Ngobili who is the Chief Whip “Ezego, Ubahuekwem Osoakwa Road (the only access road to Osoakwa seaport); Oluoha Okechukwu road; are major roads that are of economic importance to Ihiala and Anambra in general.

” These roads had been previously awarded in the past starting from the Chinwoke Mbadinuju’s administration through Chris Ngige, Peter Obi and Willie Obiano’s administration without completion

” The non completion of these roads which happens to serve as a link to the commercial focal point of Ihiala in particular and Anambra in general, has helped to expose the roads and area to brutal erosion and ditches thus causing more hazards to the people and resulting to utilization of more money by the state in curtailing the erosion and ditches.

” Conscious that if the government could continue and speedily complete the ongoing construction works on these roads namely the Ezego, Ubahuekwem Osoakwa Road; Oluoha Okechukwu Road, it will go a long way to promote commercial activities, facilitate the construction of Osoakwa seaport, support farmers to be more productive since it will relieve their means of transportation of farm products and thus generate more IGR for the state’. The Chief Whip submitted.

Supporting the motion, Hon. Holden Iloh, Hon. Henry Nigeria Mbachu, Hon. Patrick Udouba, Hon. Jude Akpua, Hon. Chidi Ibemeka, Hon. Obi Calistus Nweke, Jude Umennajiego, and Hon. Udemezue Kingsley urged Governor Soludo to intervene.

” The state government should construct this road that leads to the sea port so that when Anambra goes for lobbying, the federal government will know that we are serious.

” The masses are losing intreast and confidence in government. If we make a promise, we must fulfill it because government is continues.

“Construction of this road will lessing the suffering of the people and also improve the economic activities of ndi Ihiala.

“It will be a very bad image if the present government fails to start proactive action in this particular project. The Federal Government will certainly come for inspection and the road will determine if this agenda will succeed.

” All hands must be on deck towards making sure that one day Anambra will have a sea port.

” The road leads to the two major makets in Ihiala LGA. It also leads to a Federal Government farm project. It is the only exit road for people from Onitsha, Lagos and other places going to Owerre and Aba. It connects to the two federal roads at Ihiala LGA’ They lawmakers said.

The house was adjoined to Thursday August 3rd
