Anambra State House of Assembly has applaud Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the ongoing construction at Amansea/Awba Ofemili road and urge him to direct the commissioner for works to extend the construction to Umerum in Ayamelum LGA.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that sponsor of the motion Hon. Abuchi Udemezue in his presentation stated that
there is an ongoing road constructions at Amansea/Awba Ofemili in Awka North local government and that extending it to Umerum, will be 15 minute drive to Awka the state capital from Ayamelum LGA.
Hon. Udemezue who is the member representing Ayamelum constituency maintained that the economic potentials that will be realize by the state government, if Ayamelum LGA is connected to the state capital by Amansea/Awba Ofemili Road through Umerum as it will ease the cost of transporting agricultural goods and produce from Ayamelum LGA to Awka, the State Capital.
“Mindful that the single route in and out of Ayamelum has been a security threat, an alternative route will throw more challenges to the kidnappers and other criminals operating on this only route in and out of Ayamelum LGA and its environs”. Udemezue submitted.
Supporting the motion, Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme (Ekwusigo) Hon. Ebuka Igwe (Idemili South), Minority Leader Johnbosco Akaegbobi (Nnewi South two), Hon. Ejike Okechukwu (Anaocha two), Hon. Augustine Ike (Nnewi North) and Hon. Fred Ezenwa (Onitsha South One) in their submissions stated that the motion is a passionate appeal.
The lawmakers revealed that Ayamelum is one of the food basket in Anambra State and giving them a good access road is very important.
