The Anambra State House of Assembly has urged the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to award the immediate reconstruction of Nkwo Nnewi Bank Road, Okpunoeze Junction to Motor Parts Road and Building Materials to Agbo-Edo Awammili Roads, in Nnewi North Local Government area.

Hon. Onyckachukwu Ike who was the chief sponsor of the motion stated that Governor Soludo promised to fix this road during his campaign tour in the commercial city of Nnewi in 2021.
” The construction of Bank road is very important in a commercial city like Nnewi.
‘Bank Road, Motor Parts road and Building Materials to Agbo-Edo road in Nnewi, have considerable high flow of traffic due to heightened commercial
” The current condition of these roads is a major setback on commercial and business activities especially when it rains, as buyers can hardly successfully navigate through these roads to any of the adjourning markets
“The continued impassable state of these roads have been a source of worry and discouragement to the business community in Nnewi, as a result of which they lament seriously and are in desperate search for solution.
“The re-construction of bank roads will ease traffic, facilitate trade, thereby improving the economic condition of the state”.
” When you talk about Anambra, the first thing that comes to mind is business and that is what Nnewi is known for. The Nkwo Nnewi road is in a terrable state.
” Fixing this road will make investors come to Nnewi. The only way revenue can grow in Anambra state is by investing in those key places’. Hon. Ike submitted
Hon. Ejike Okechukwu, Hon. Tony Moubike, Hon. Innocent Ojike. Majority leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme and Hon. Nonso Atuchukwa, while speaking in favour of the motion called on Governor Soludo to intervene.
“Those fourty and twenty fit conteners that normally off-load in Nnewi needs good road to cover the goods because they pay tax to government
” Nnewi is the japen of Africa and a major source of IGR for the government. This roads has twelve commercial banks and more than 25 major offices where people come everyday for transactions.
“Motorcycle is one of the major means of transportation in Nnewi and it is sad that over fifty percent of accident victims at the Nnewi teaching hospital are on this roads.
“This roads are connected to five different local government in Anambra state (Idemili North and South, Nnewi South, Ihiala and Ekwosigo) and the bad road affects commercial activities.
