Anambra Assembly Calls For Utilization Of Ultra Modern Terminal Park In Ogbaru For Its Specified Purposes

Anambra State House of Assembly has urge Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Transport, Chairman of Anambra Urban Regeneration Council to ensure the full utilization of Ultra Modern Terminal Park Ogbaru for its specified purposes.

The member representing Ogbaru one constituency Hon. Nobel Chukwunonso Igwe who sponsored the motion said the past government developed the terminal park at Upper Iweka for improved transport system so as to decongest road side motor parks.

According to Hon. Igwe who is the Deputy Minority Leader, some individuals have bastardized the main purpose for which the park was developed. 

“The park is no longer been used for loading and off loading of vehicles so as to bring sanity within the Upper Iweka axis.

“Traders has messed up the beauty and serenity of the ultra modern park with their private businesses.

“The revenue the government ought to be getting through the modern park is nowhere to be found. 

” The purpose of creating the park is to generate 

revenue for the state, but along the line, the main purpose was diverted. 

“Traders from Ogbaru main market have turn the motor park for personal gain. It is no longer used for loading and off-loading of vehicles but is now used for mini-way-house. 

“Why will the state government allow such activities to be going-on knowing fully well that small motor parks have been springing up in Upper Iweke.

” If we can galvanize those small parks and move them into the main park, government will generate revenue and it will bring sernity within the environment. 

” The issue of people loosing their property within the Upper Iweke axis will reduce. I dont know why individual will divert government property for personal uses”. Igwe submitted.

Speaking In support of the motion, Hon. Golden 

Iloh (Ihiala two), Hon. Emma Nwafor (Orumba South), Hon. Chidi Ibemeka (Njikoka one), Hon. Ejike Okechukwu (Anaocha two), Hon. Fred Ezenwe (Onitsha South one), Hon. Nigeria Mbachu (Awka South one), Deputy Majority Leader Hon. Jude Akpua (Njikoka two), Hon. Tony Mobuike (Aguata two) and Hon. Kingsley Udemezue (Idemili North) in their seperate submissions called on the Governor to intervene

” Government needs to investigate and verify the reasons why this park was abandoned and why private parks are operating in that area. 

” How can government invest so much money in building such a huge project and abandon it at the hands of private individuals to mess it up. It is not right. 

” We have been clamoring that the sources of revenue in the state, we have to utilize the once we have”. The lawmakers said.
