Anambra State House of Assembly on Monday December 1st 2025, commenced
Budget Defence And Bilateral Discussion
with Ministries, Departments, Agencies and other government parastatals.
The Chairman Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropration, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu in his opening remark maintained that as lawmakers, they will do everything within their powers to make sure that all Ministries, and Agencies perform better through assisting them in achieving the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
During its appearance before the lawmakers, the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, led by its Commissioner, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, presented a budget proposal of 5.9 billion.
Hon. Nnake who noted that the 2026 budget is a continuity with new initiatives and transformation agenda, stated that as at October 2025, 61 percent have been achieved.
“We have performed 61 percent of the budget and before the year ends, in my estimation, we should be performing at list 75 percent.
“Anambra state is focused on delivering tangible outcomes, which is why there’s an increase in some sectors such as education, health and Infrastructure Investments”. Nnake submitted.
During its presentation, Ministry of Finance led by its Commissioner, Hon. Izu Okafor, presented a capital budget proposal of 6.6 billion naira.
In his presentation, Okafor who outlined the major projects and plans of the ministry, revealed that the budget reflects the vision of Governor Soludo. We intend to transform the ministry.
Also, the Managing Director Anambra State ICT, Mr. Chukwuemeka Agbata who presented a buget estimate of 2.7 billion, revealed that in 2026, the agency has plans to expand the digital transformation to many MDA’s.
” Before now, Anambra State Civil Servents are known for using business centers to do basic government walk, when we came in, Governor Chukwuma Soludo gave us a mandate and part of what we did was, we ran a base line study,
which showed us what was available in the state civil service. Less than four hundrend computers and printers, and this discovery formed the basis of what followed.
“Now, the Anambra State Civil Service is not only empowered with high speed connectivity, but also have access to devices. That is the seriousness of the man (Soludo) in charge of governance today”. Agbata stated.
