Anambra State House of Assembly has commenced verification of the audited account of the twenty-one local government areas in Anambra State for the year 2022 to encourage transparency.
The Chairman House Committee on public account Hon. Noble Igwe speaking during their meeting with the top officials of Anaocha local government area, explained that the essence of the meeting was to ascertain how local governments expended the funds allocated to them in 2022 and to figure out if it is in conformity with required standards.

Hon. Igwe noted that the meeting will encourage probity and accountability in local government administration and commended the local government for following due process in execution of projects.
Addressing the Committee, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha local government area, Chief Gerald Ozo informed them that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has through the local government council installed solar energy in the area, did palliative works on the local government’s dilapidated roads, distributed drugs to the ten primary health centers of the local government, equipped Ichida General Hospital, distributed writing materials to public schools in Anaocha among others.
The Committee also reviewed the audited account of Awka South local government area for the year under review and commended them for keeping their records straight.
In his remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South local government area, Mr. Thankgod Anaguo noted that the Committee is very thorough in their oversight duty, adding that the exercise will enable them to always work in accordance with due process
