Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary on Tuesday, commends Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for the award and commencement of the dualization of the Magazine, 3:3- Otuocha Expressway, as a landmark infrastructure intervention in Onitsha North and Anambra in general.
Sponsor of the motion and lawmaker representing Onitsha-North two Constituency, Hon. Patrick Okafor in his submission noted that the Magazine G.R.A-3-3 – Otuocha Expressway is a critical arterial road linking the commercial hub of Onitsha with the densely populated 3-3 axis and adjoining communities.
Bar. Okafor maintained that the road is
serving thousands of residents, traders, transporters and businesses daily.
In his words: ‘The said road has for many years suffered severe deterioration, congestion, flooding, and safety challenges, thereby hindering economic activities, increasing travel time, and exposing commuters to avoidable hardship;
“Successive calls by residents, transport unions, business groups, and community leaders for its rehabilitation and expansion have underscored its strategic importance to urban mobility and economic growth in Onitsha North and Anambra State.
“The decision of the present administration of Prof. Soludo to award and commence the dualization of the Magazine- 3:3-Otucoha expressway demonstrates visionary leadership, responsiveness to citizens’ needs, and commitment to modern infrastructure renewal across the State
‘The ongoing dualization project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, stimulate commerce, increase property values, improve connectivity to markets and residential layouts, and generally uplift the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people of Onitsha North and Anambra State at large’. Okafor noted.
Supporting the motion, in their separate submissions, Tony Muobike (Aguata 2), Deputy Majority Leader, Jude Akpua (Njikoka 2), Minority Leader, Johnbosco Akaegbobi (Nnewi South 2), Deputy Chief Whip, Obi Nweke (Anambra East), Ike Augustine (Nnewi North), Chidiebere Ibemeka (Njikoka One) and Majority Leader, Ikenna Ofodeme (Ekwusigo) commended Prof. Soludo for his interventions.
According to the lawmakers, the essence of governance is to bring good life to the people and the construction of this road has brought succor to ndi Anambra.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided plenary, commended Okafor for sponsoring the motion and also appreciated the members for their contributions.
