Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary on Tuesday, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the effective security measures implemented during the Christmas and New Year festive periods.
In a motion sponsored by Hon. Jude Umennajiego representing Onitsha South two Constituency, the House, while commending Soludo urged the Governor to maintain the tempo.
According to Umennajiego, “Anambra State and indeed the Southeast region was ravaged by grave Insecurity, including kidnapping, abductions, killings, violent robberies and other vices. Criminal camps and cells were littered in several locations in Anambra State.
“The problem was so severe that Ndi Anambra were afraid of coming home from their respective abodes, particularly people living outside the State. It was so scary to move from one location to the other especially with beautiful and exotic cars.
“Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his visionary and proactive steps, confronted insecurity, flushed out the hoodlums from their criminal camps and cells, through coordinated efforts with security agents .
” Anambra State House Of Assembly played a crucial role by timeously and expeditiously enacting the Homeland Security Law, an executive bill, which empowered the governor to establish the ‘Agunechemba’ security outfit, which played a crucial role in the security of Anambra in conjunction with the police and other security outfits.
‘The progress made by Governor Soludo in security can be sustained by the proactive leadership and vision to make Anambra State a livable and prosperous homeland where enhanced economic and social life take place under secure and conducive atmosphere”. Hon. Umennajiego said.

(Orumba South), Barr. Ebuka Igwe (Idemili South), Hon. Fred Ezenwa (Onitsha South one), Bar. Mimi Azikiwe (Onitsha North One) and Hon. Chidi Ibemeka (Njikoka one) in their separate submissions, commended Soludo for the improved security in Anambra
The legislators urged him to sustain the current momentum, noting that improved safety is the primary guarantor of economic investment and social stability in the state.
“We are celebrating a promise made and kept. Before now, about seven local governments in Anambra where under serge and battling insecurity, but now, the story has changed.
“We are having the last laugh because all the local government in Anambra State have been secured and what we witnessed during the last yuletide, was a testament of the monumental achievements by the Governor.
” Some people thought that 2025 festive season will be the scary, following the withdrawal of police from VIP’s by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but it ended up a peaceful season.
” The Governor recently gave out 30 vehicle’s to Security agencies, to boost their performance. Kudos to Soludo”. The lawmakers submitted.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided plenary, lauded Governor Soludo for laying a “solid foundation for a better Anambra.
Rt. Hon. Udeze commended Barr. Umennajiego for sponsoring the motion.
He expressed immense pride in the legislative-executive partnership that has prioritized the lives of citizens over political optics.
“I want to thank you my colleagues for their tireless contributions to this progress. By working together, we have moved Anambra from a state of fear to a state of growth. I assure Ndi Anambra that this year, 2026, will be even better security-wise as we strengthen our local intelligence and enforcement frameworks.” Speaker Udeze stated.
