Anambra State House of Assembly has calls on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Environment and the Managing Director, Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) to set up night monitoring and enforcement team to curtail indiscriminate dumping of refuse at night on the demarcation pavement at the center of the road along Ziks Avenue Awka and as well as every other part of the state.

Chief sponsor of the motion Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi who is the Deputy Minority Whip said the indiscriminate dumping of refuse by many residents of Awka metropolis has become a usual reoccurrence and is now the order of the day.
According to Hon. Ogbuefi who is the member Anaocha one constituency ” Such indiscriminate display of refuse poses severe environmental hazard and possible Pandemic.
“Such unwholesome disposal of refuse dumps can lead to the blockage of drainage channels when washed away by rain and while such practices are mostly perpetuated at night.
” Such practices deface the ecstatics of Awka Capital city and indeed Anambra State. This act has to stop because cleaness is next to Godliness.
“The setting up of a night monitoring and enforcement team will go a long way to curtail such practices, restore a healthier and serene environment as Well as generate revenue for Government.
“Most of the disease are cause by unhealthy environment. This illicit act will continue if those involved are not brought to book”. Ogbuefi submitted
Supporting the motion, Hon. Ebuka Igwe, Hon, Noble lgwe, Deputy Minority leader Hon. Douglas Egbuna, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu, Hon. Fred Ezenwa, Hon. Golden iloh, Hon Udemezue Kingsley and Minority Whip Hon. Obu Paul said

” We will have a healthy environment and leave a healthy life if this practices are curtailed.
“Most of air-bone disease are caused by this dumping of refuge and we have to stop it.
“It is an eye saw, that a front line state like Anambra will be witnassing a devastating act like this. The perpetrators of this act should be classified as the enemies of the state”. The law makers submitted.
