Anambra Assembly Confirms Appointment of 21 Transition Committee Chairmen, Councillor

Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday 20th June confirmed the appointment of Transition Committee Chairmen and councillors of the twenty-one Local Government Areas.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the House confirmed the appointment in line with section two hundred and eight of the Local Government law, 1999 as amended, as requested by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The newly appointed Chairmen are, Hon. Ifeanyi Chiweze (Anambra East), Hon. Fidelis Nnazo (Anambra West) Hon. Romanus Ibekwe (Anaocha) Hon. Chinedu Okafor (Awka South), Hon. Alphonsus Ofumele (Ayamelum), Hon. Chijioke Ozumba (Dunukofia) and Hon. Stanley Nkwoka (Idemili North).

Others are; Hon. Chinedu Ononiba (Njikoka), Hon. Val Ezeogidi (Nnewi South), Hon. Franklin Nwadialu (Ogbaru), Hon. Anthony Nwaora (Onitsha North), Hon. Casimir Nwafor (Orumba North) and Hon. Shedrack Azubuike (Orumba South).

The re-appointed Chairmen, Include, Hon. Chibuike Ofobuike (Aguata), Hon. Thankgod Aniagor (Awka North), Hon. Amaka Obi (Idemili South), Hon. Emeka Orji (Onitsha South), Hon. Anayo Orjiakor (Ihiala), Hon. Chris Obiora (Nnewi North) Hon. Chimezie Obi (Ekwusigo) and Hon Emma Nweke (Oyi).

The local government transition committee chairmen will serve for a period of three months at the first.

Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze while congratulating the newly confirmed chairmen, charged them to remain focus and avoid pitfalls as a lot of Ndi Anambra place high hope on them.

The Speaker further implored them to live up to expectation and work cordially with their members and community stakeholders, and work in line with the vision and mission of Governor Soludo.

” Alot of ndi Anambra are putting their hopes in your hands. There is every need for all of you to be focused.

“Carry your councilors, community leaders along. The hopes of the grassroot are in your hands. Dont disappoint us.

” For us to pass through this rigorous process shows that alot is expected.

” Go and work for ndi Anambra. I assure you that if you dont leave up to expectations, this Assembly through oversight functions, will do the needful.
Udeze said

In a vote of thanks on behalf of the new Transition Chairmen of Aguata Local Government Area, Hon. Chibuike Oforbuike said they are prepared for work and thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for given them opportunity to serve ndi Anambra, promising not to disappoint.

In an interview, Orumba South TC Chairman, Hon. Shadrach Azubuike, expressed his gratitude to Governor Soludo for finding him worthy to serve the people of Orumba South, assuring to work in line with the developmental agenda of the governor in ensuring that an enduring peace and harmony thrive in Orumba South.

Speaking in an interview Anyamelum TC Chairman, Mr. Alphonsus Ofumele, highlighted his strategies to boost the local economy of his local government stating that his first priority is to unity his people.

The TC Chairman on Njikoka LGA, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba while speaking to newsmen in an interview said he will do everything within his strength to make sure that he will not disappoint his people.

” I will focus more on security, waste management and drainages. There are alot of work to be done and am sure that i will deliver”. Ononiba said

The house adjurned and to reconvene on Tuesday 30th July.
