The Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye has empowered constituents from Nibo Ward three with start-up equipment
such as sewing, grinding, hair dryers machines and deep freezers to kick-start their journey into using some of their skills.
Rt. Hon Okoye who is the member representing Awka South two constituency also commissioned modern boreholes in strategic areas to cushion the effects of water scarcity in the area.
According to the lawmaker, the initiative was to serve the immediate needs of the people and to complement the efforts of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration in the state.
He pointed out that each of the water facilities has 24/7 power supply with regular maintenance provided for in order to achieve optimum performance.
While assuring that he will not relent until democracy dividends reaches all his constituents, the Anambra Deputy Speaker explained that the selected empowered individuals already have skills but lacked the financial capability to procure the necessary equipment to kick-started their careers.
He, however, warned them that even though the equipment is free of charge, they are not to be resold but must be used for the purpose they were bought for.
Speaking during the event, the President General of Nibo community, Professor Tony Nwokoye commended the efforts of the lawmaker in meeting the basic needs of the communities and acknowledged that one of the major issues of the area is lack of water.
Prof Nwokoye explained that the projects speaks to the Lawmaker’s integrity as a man of his words; commended him for running an open door policy even after campaigns and assured him of their unalloyed support.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Awka South Local Government Area, Barr. Chukwuma Lawrence and the Chairman of the part in Nibo ward 3, Engr. Raphael Umeadi acknowledged the immense contributions of the lawmaker to the development of his constituency, emphasizing that he has fulfilled all his campaign promises and surpassed them.
They called on the electorate in the state to always go for and elect credible individuals with milk of human kindness like Right Hon. Okoye into positions of power as they assured the Lawmaker that the ward will continue to treasure his interventions and human capital development in years to come.
Responding on behalf of the empowered constituents, Mrs. Eunice Mmaduka thanked the lawmaker for always associating with them before, during and after elections and for his continued upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden in the society and assured that the equipment will be put to good use.
