Anambra State House of Assembly has extended the suspension of the lawmaker representing Ayamelum Constituency, Hon. Bernard Udemezue for another three months without pay for non-compliance rules and unparliamentary activities.
This follows the recommendations of the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges during plenary on Wednesday.
The House recommended that Ayamelum lawmaker should apologize to the Speaker and members of the 8th Assembly in writing and on his social media platforms within five days counting from 26th November 2025, while also stating that he should not be seen around the premises of the Assembly during the period of his suspension.

The recommendation also noted that from the findings of the House within the period of his suspension, Hon. Udemezue had not apologized to the Speaker and the Assembly members either on social media or through a written apology.
According to the Majority Leader, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme, who chairs the committee, Honourable Udemezue still took to his Facebook account to continue the very act of ridiculing the Anambra Assembly and failed to adhere to the provisions of the resolutions of 28th August 2025.
Ofodeme said that Udemezue violated the resolution by showing up in the legislative chamber on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, and not only did he show up, but also appeared ready to disrupt the legislative activities of the day.
Angel Network News (ANN) recalled that
Udemezue on Tuesday, was walked out of the legislative Chambers after was
approached by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, and the Memebr representing Oyi Constituency, Hon. Innocent Ojike approached the suspended Law maker and accompanied him out of the Chamber in company of security personnel.
The House leadership also went upstairs at the galary and walked out all supporters of the law maker who had accompanied him to the plenary.
According to them, the Lawmaker did not follow due process after his three months suspension elapsed .

In defence, Udemezue claimed that he followed due process and had submitted necessary letters for resumption to the appropriate authorities before his appearance.
The Security operatives however insisted and walked him to the new Legislative building.
