Anambra Assembly Pay familiarization visit To Ministry Of Information, ABS

Anambra State House of Assembly has paid a familiarization visit to the Ministry of Information and Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS).

Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon. Chuks Azotani while speaking at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Awka, said the 8th assembly will work together in synergy with the ministry. 

Hon. Azotani who is the member representing Dunukofia constituency commended the Commissioner for Information Sir Paul Nwosu and Managing Director of ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu and its team for their effort in disseminating the happenings of the state government down to the grassroots.

Commissioner of information Sir Paul Nwosu while giving over view, highlighted how the ministry was structured. 

Sir Nwosu revealed that the ministry has been using ABS and other media platforms to enlighten and sensitize ndi Anambra on the happening within the state from the details gotten from information officers spread across the 21 local government. 

Sir Nwosu while listing the challenges confronting the ministry, said with the backing of the 8th assembly, they will perform beyond expectation.

“Our major objective is to spread the policies and programs of the state government to the rural areas and grassroots. We also do documentries and share on social media and blogs. We will partner the the legislature in order to function better”.

Managing Director of ABS Sir Chido Obidiegwu in his speech commended the lawmakers for their visit stating that oversight function deepens the relationship beetween the legislature and the executive. 

Sir Obidiegwu who stated that the primary aim of ABS is to disseminate information to ndi Anambra, appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for finding him worthy to pilot the affars of the station. 

The MD revealed that most of the challenges confronting the station is been tackled and that Abs is better compaired to two years back.

“On assumption of office in the last sixteen months, i meet some challenges but we have been tackling them gradually.

“We are bringing ABS back to speed and their is a much difference in content and reception. We need a program both on radio and television that will project the happenings of the house of assembly.

Other Committee members; Hon. Emma Nwafor (Orumber South) Hon. Goldern iloh (Ihiala 2) Hon. Anthony Moubike (Aguata 2) in their separate remark said that the 8th assembly will assist the ministry of information and ABS in achieving its aim and objectives through passing bills and sponsor motions that will cusion the efforts of the organization.
