Anambra Commences Enforcement Of Environmental Law

Anambra State Government wishes to notify the general public that full enforcement of all environmental laws has commenced in the state.

Commissioner for Information,
Anambra State, Dr. Law Mefor in a public announcement noted that all public and private buildings without functional catchment pits, drainage systems, or any approved means of stormwater control will attract strict penalties.

“Anyone caught dropping refuse indiscriminately on roads, expressways, or into drainages will be arrested, prosecuted, and fined.

“The indiscriminate disposal of sachet water nylons, PET bottles, plastics, or any other waste materials at locations other than designated litter points is strictly “prohibited.

” Offenders will be fined and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“Penalties: Individuals: ₦20,000 to ₦1,000,000. Corporate organizations: ₦100,000 to ₦5,000,000
