Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism Hon. Don Onyenji says the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo wants to make Anambra state the tourism capital in Nigeria
Onyenji who appeared along-side members of his ministry during the 2024 budget defense presided by Anambra assembly committee on Finance and Appropration chaired by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and committee on Culture, Entertainment and Tourism chaired by Hon. Nigeria Henry Mbachu, assured that the ministry will work according to the appropriation law.
“We are working hard to make sure that Anambra becomes the tourism center of the world.
” We are rehabilitating the museum and the amusement park at the (former national light newspapers) and also creating a profile for all heritage sites in Anambra for recognition.
” All tourism site in the state will be worked on and utilized in other to create revenue.
” We are also working on entertainment and the creation of ANAWOOD has began including talent hunt.
“There will be cultural carnival, home coming and end of the year celebration were ndi Anambra both home and abroad will come together and enjoy themselves”.
Speaking in an interview after the defense, Onyenji revealed that the 2024 budget speaks volume of the projects to be ambacked on by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
“The solution fun city which is a mega project for Anambra state, including Agulu lake and heritage site projects which are on-going.
“Anambra state will be the mega city tourists will be coming to enjoy themselves.
“On entertainment, ‘grade A’ artists will be coming to Anambra state.
“We will reverse our culture by making sure that all our core values are emphasized on.
” The Solution fun city Awka will have facilities such as country-club, children’s park, swimming pool, out-door games (five-aside), site-outs.
“We lack this things and the solution government wants to put them.
“The Solution fun city takes off next year while we will creat a beach around Agulu lake and a golf court. All this are mega projects.
” This is why the budget for Culture, entertainment and tourism increased.
“We are starting ANAWOOD in other to creat opportunities for Anambra born actors”. Onyenji stated
