Anambra Commissioner For Education Reveals Plans On Smart-School Initiative

Anambra Commissioner for education, Professor Ngozi Chuma Udeh says all the secondary schools in the state will be upgraded to technology institutions.

Speaking during the 2024 budget defense before the Anambra assembly committee on Finance and Appropration chaired by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and committee on education chaired by Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke on Monday,

the commissioner stated that smart school entails lifting every school to highly technology school.

“Next years budget will remady the projects we are embarking”.

“We want to equip every single Anambra child to face the world. Education is the center of human existence and if it is relegated to the background, the society goes backwards.

“For a progressive society, we have to invest soo much in education and Governor Chukwuma Soludo has the desire to improve, restructure and restore the entire facet of education in Anambra state.

” The margin between 2023 budget and that of 2024 is much because the philosophy of Governor Soludo is still unfolding.

” The Governor said he will lift all schools in Anambra to a smart school and the process has began which was demonstrated in making education free.

“We employed five thousand teachers and about to employ additional three thousand (specifically for public school) which is on-going.

“We are hoping that this years budget, will help in equipping our secondary schools because most of the infrastructure are dilapidated.

“We have a lot of infrastructure to do in our secondary schools which was the reason for the increase in budget size”. Udeh stated

The Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education, ASUBEB, Dr Vera Nwadinobi in an interview, assured that the 2024 budget will be in implemented.

Speaking on the teachers recruitment,

Nwadinobi said the ongoing Computer-Based -Test, CBT, recruitment examination is all geared towards achieving the Smart-School initiative of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

She explained that the CBT examination is not only testing the ability of the applicants as teachers but also testing their digital capacities, adding that any applicant who do not know how to operate the computer will definitely fail.

Dr Nwadinobi also disclosed that Governor Soludo wants to use the recruitment exercise to solve the problem of lack of teachers in hard -to- reach- areas of Anambra State like Ayamelum, Anambra West, East, Ihiala, among others as the Governor wants to ensure that children there have enough teachers in their schools and that every child in the state receives quality education from quality teachers.

The ASUBEB Chairman made it clear that the government wants the best and the recruitment must be on merit, advising applicants to beware of scammers who are asking them for money to be recruited, stressing that the recruitment is free of charge.
