Anambra Commissioner Inaugurate 2027 Budget Committee

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Chukwukadibia Okoye, on Thursday 23rd July 2026, inaugurated the 2027 State Budget Committee at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Hon. Okoye charged the committee to keep the process transparent and People-Driven.

Calling the budget “the heartbeat of governance,” he said it must deliver real impact to ndi Anambra and drive Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s transformative agenda.

Key directives to the Committee:
Discipline, integrity and transparency at every stage. Evidence-based projects. No inflation, no duplication. Prioritize completion of ongoing projects. Realistic projections, accurate costing, early prep
– Stronger MDA synergy. Grow IGR, attract donor support, and spend prudently
– Smart prioritization of critical needs like erosion control

The Commissioner opted for a physical inauguration to build teamwork and shared ownership. Members were reminded that their selection was merit-based and that they must serve the collective interest of Anambra.

The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Chinyere Nwabachili presented the 2027 budget calendar from community submissions to legislative approval.

Also speaking, Head of Budget, Dr. Christy Akabuo noted that bilateral sessions will align spending with priorities and fiscal sustainability.

the Ministry pledged full backing to the Committee. The goal is to have a budget that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of our people.
