…CP Itam establishes Community Policing Committee
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam on Tuesday, stepped up security advocacy to gather support and build more trust and confidence in Ndi Anambra for Police and Other security agencies in the State.
Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that
the security advocacy was born out of the quest of the Command to foster community engagement, encouraging individuals to take ownership of security and report suspicious activities.
It also aims to prevent security breaches, cyber-attacks and physical harm by promoting proactive measures, educate individuals and organizations on potential security risks, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
“Contribute to national security by promoting a culture of security awareness and responsibility. Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, including governments, organizations and individuals.
“Help to reduce economic losses and protect investments. Promote a culture of security, encouraging individuals and organizations to prioritize security in their daily lives.
“Contribute to sustainable development by promoting stability, security and peace.
The CP further directs the establishment of the Community Policing Committee as enshrined in the Police Act 2020.
The members of this Committee include President Generals of the community, Youth leaders, Leaders of Christian Association in the Local Government, Traditional Rulers, Markets leaders, AVG members and other relevant stakeholders.
The committee is tasked to promote
communication between the Police and the Community.
Improve Police service to the Community.
Maintain partnership between the community, the Police and other sundry services necessary to improve safety within the area.
ANN reports that the local Government Secretariats visited include Idemili South, Nnewi North & South, Orumba North & South and Awka South & North amongst others.
