Anambra Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye has commended Sports Writers Association Nigeria (SWAN) for being at the forefront national unity.
CP Adeoye stated this while receiving the newly elected executives of the association at the Command Headquarters, Amawbia. Awka South Local Government Area.
According to Adeoye, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria is an important body and pivotal pillar of journalism in Nigeria .
While noting that SWAN has done a noble service to the country for decades, the commissioner of police called on the new executive to keep the flag flying and abreast Nigerians with quality sporting activities.
The Commissioner of Police noted that the command will partner the Anambra State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in all its proposed sporting activities during their week coming up in December.
Adeoye also hinted that plans were on by his leadership, to collaborate with the sports journalists in organising a sporting games for all the security agencies in the area which will cement togetherness among officers and men of the command.
ANN gathererd that earlier, the Chairman of SWAN Anambra state Chapter, Mr. Chimezie Anaso had extolled the pivotal and traditional role the Police play in the security component of the society and more specifically the way the Police Command in Anambra has helped to provide an enabling environment for sports to thrive in the state.
According to him, sports can only take place under a peaceful and tranquil environment, so, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Anambra Chapter is willing and ready to partner with the command to evolve that.
