The former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Josephine Anenih, has charged the Anambra State congress committee to conduct a credible and transparent state congress for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Anenih, made the call while speaking shortly after a failed congress of the party on Saturday in Awka, Anambra State capital.
The former minister added that if the committee conducts a credible congress, it will be the only committee that has been faithful to the state in organizing such an event.
She urged the congress committee members to shun all forms of inducements and conduct a free and fair state congress that would stabilize the party for the Anambra State 2025 gubernatorial poll and beyond.
Explaining why the state congress was postponed, the chairman of the Congress, Enugu State Deputy Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai, represented by the secretary of the committee, Ndubuisi Eneh, said the postponement was due to logistical issues and other factors.
He assured members of the PDP in Anambra State of a credible, fair, and transparent state congress later this week.
According to him, the committee is currently meeting with all stakeholders to ensure that the congress holds either Wednesday or Thursday this week without rancor or crisis before, during, or after the exercise.
He noted that the committee would work with the delegate lists upheld by the Appeal Court and certified by the national body of the party, ensuring that only authentic delegates would be allowed access to the congress venue.
Eneh emphasized that the PDP Headquarters is primarily focused on regaining the Anambra Government House, hence the shift.
