…with N3.8 Million in Prizes to be won
The Anambra State Football Association (FA) has announced a strategic partnership with Akubudike Energy Limited to launch a new football league aimed at uniting communities and nurturing local talent across the state.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the Anambra State Football League is set to kick off on August 24, 2025, with the opening match scheduled to take place at the Awka City Stadium.
Speaking at the unveiling, Anambra FA Chairman Chikelue Iloenyosi emphasized the importance of the initiative in providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills while promoting unity through sports.
Iloenyosi revealed that the competition will feature teams drawn from all communities and affiliated clubs within the state, promising exciting action and fierce rivalries on the pitch.
“This partnership with Akubudike Energy Limited is a step forward in our commitment to grassroots football. We’re not just building players—we’re building communities,” Iloenyosi said.
The competition comes with a total prize pool of ₦3.8 million, with the following breakdown: Champions ₦2 million,
Runners-up ₦1 million, Third place ₦ 500,000 and Fourth place ₦200,000.
In addition, there will be individual awards of ₦50,000 each for standout performers in the following categories: Best Goalkeeper, Best Player, Top Scorer and
Best Behaved Team
The league is expected to attract significant interest from fans, local scouts, and community leaders, with matches to be played across various zones in Anambra State.
