Anambra Football Association Chairman Congratulates Osimehn, Oshoala, Nnadozie On CAF Awards

The Anambra State Football Association (FA) Chairman Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi has eulogized both Victor Osimehn and Asisat Oshoala who were crowned Male and Female African Footballers of the year respectively.

Iloenyosi also extolled goal tender, Chiamaka Nnadozie who was recognized as the best in Africa in her position.

The Anambra FA boss charged them to continue to be a good ambassador of Nigerian and African football where they go. He described the moment as one that will live long in the minds of Nigerians.

He also poured encomiums on the President of the Nigerian Football Federation Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau as Nigerian football won big at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards ceremony in Marrakesh Morocco.

Iloenyosi described the situation as the proudest moment of Nigeria football on the continent in a long while and all these made possible by the exceptional leadership attributes of Alhaji Gusau since he took over as the NFF President last year.

“Its an important moment and arguably one of the proudest moments of Nigerian football in a long while.

“Nigeria winning big in major categories of the CAF awards says a lot about the leadership attributes of Mr Gusau. Super Falcons winning the Women’s National Team of the year is just apt. We all witnessed the exceptional preparation the NFF led by Alhaji Gusau gave the Falcons and we saw the result of that at the World cup and the reward of that last night. We as state FA Chairmen will work towards sustaining this momentum and vision of Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau.

ANN recalled that this will be the second time that two players from the same country will clean out the two topmost awards in Africa since Kanu Nwankwo and Mercy Akide did so in 1999.

Osimehn got better of Mohammed Salah and Hachraf Hakimi to emerge as the best in Africa as Asisat Oshoala defeated Thembi Kagtlana and Barbara Banda to be African Queen.
