In commemoration of the 2025 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Sector Command conducted a church visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maryland, Amawbia, on Sunday, 16 November 2025.

the event was aimed to raise awareness about road safety within faith‑based communities and to encourage responsible road‑user behaviour.
In her address, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, highlighted key road‑safety statistics in Anambra State, the causes and consequences of road crashes, and the importance of obeying traffic regulations such as speed limits and traffic signals.
Asekhauno also warned against drunk driving, distracted driving (including mobile‑phone use), and reckless overtaking, while emphasizing the vulnerability of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.
Drivers were urged to incorporate road‑safety messages into their sermons and programmes, positioning churches as influential platforms for promoting positive values and behaviours.
The commemorative thanksgiving service drew a positive response from the congregation, and church leaders, who expressed commitment to supporting FRSC’s efforts to reduce road crashes in the state.
“We are grateful to the clergy and the faithful for embracing this important cause. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone,” said Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno.
The FRSC boss reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with community stakeholders to foster a culture of safety on the roads.
