Anambra state government has concluded its plans towards upgrading Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square to an international event center.
The Commissioner for Housing in Anambra state, Hon. Pauly Onyeka while speaking in an interview after appearing before the 8th assembly committees on Finance and Appropration Chaired by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and Committee on Housing and Urban Development chaired by Nonso Atuchukwu, during the budget defense and bilateral discussion on Tuesday.
According to Hon Onyeka, Governor Chukwuma Soludo is intentional in the utilization of tax, and that ndi Anambra will have value for their money.
” Government is targetting an international event center which is why we are refurbishing Alex Ekwueme Square.
“With five hundred million allocated to it, We are upgrading it to an international standard. We are going to fix an executive pavilion, fix a swimming pool and a five aside pitch and many sporting activities including fencing and land scaping. We will turn it to an edific ndi Anambra will be proud of”. The Commissioner declared
“The dividends of democracy will get to the grassroot and we are looking into areas that would be very necessary for ndi Anambra based on the priority of government.
“Anambra state can be said to be the only state in the country without a government house and a governors lodge, and since 32 years, this area has been overlooked but Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
” The old peoples home is necessary and will be built because we noticed that some of our people abandone their suffering parents in search of greener pasture abroad.
” Most parents are lacking care and attention and the governor thought it wise and saw the need for the old peoples home to be built.
“The solution team lead by Professor Chukwuma Soludo is running am agenda with a deadline which is why all of us are working meticlous and timely”.
