Anambra Govt Approves Interim Town Union Executives In Isseke Community

Anambra State Government has approved the constitution of an interim town union government to run the affairs of Isseke Progressive Union, IPU, for the next three months.

ANN gathered that the interim government was as a result of the tenure expiration of Chief Gilbert Okonkwo led executive, prevailing security situation at Ihiala Local Government Area and the need to avoid vacuum in the leadership of the town union government.

The interim government, which has Pharmacist Kingsley Okafoeze, as its chairman and Mr. Macdonald Muakolokwu, as its Secretary.

A release signed by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Honourable Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, listed Chief Cyprian Onuigbo, Chief Jonah Nwa) 0bunwa, Mr. Izuchukwu Ndedigwe, and Mr. Ifeanyi Obieleanya as members.

Other members are Mr. Igwekezie Chinedu, Mr. Ambrose Okwudili, Mr. Clement Ughalaka and Mr. Johnpaul Alagwu.

According to the release, the interim government has as its terms of reference to reconcile the different factions in the community within three months, sustain the spirit of oneness in the community and also put in place, a structure that will ensure and sustain a peaceful co-existence.

It is also mandated to prepare grounds for the conduct of a credible town union election in the community to be supervise by the ministry within its tenure of three months that took effect from eight July, 2023, till eight October 2023 except otherwise decided by government.
