Anambra Govt Celebrates Elderly, Vulnerable People Living With Disabilities

Anambra State Government has hosted and celebrated elderly, vulnerable and people living with disabilities In an effort to bring solace to the distressed and serve as a beacon of hope to the downtrodden.

ANN reports that Prince Engr Arthur Eze who turned  75 recently was also celebrated at the event. 

The occasion commenced with an inter-denominational church service officiated by the Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop, Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim.

Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech emphasized that Anambra State Government under his leadership will continue to care for the weakest in the society.

Soludo said his administration is driving to have a state with zero poverty, noting that all the policies including, palm and coconut economy, free education, tax exemption for the vulnerable, taking development to the abandoned areas in the state and creating job opportunities among others are geared towards the intentional agenda.

The Governor said that caring for the vulnerable in the society as a government is part of doing the work of God, noted that celebrating Prince Eze at the occasion was for his commitment to humanity all through his life.

He announced that Anambra state government will launch a major housing project for the elderly who have no one to care for them.

The Governor pointed out that Anambra will continue to celebrate those who have made great impact in the society while they are alive.

Speaking during the service, Archbishop Ibezim commended Governor Soludo for the thoughtful initiative to celebrate the elderly and the downtrodden.

Ibezim while reminding the gathering that life is a journey and harped on the need for people to live a life of purpose, commended the Governor for celebrating Prince Eze whom he said has committed his life and wealth to the service of God and humanity.

Prince Arthur Eze in a response commended Governor Soludo’s leadership style and assured him of his continued support.

Oil magnate and philanthropist, Arthur Eze appreciated the gesture of celebrating him and promised greater commitment to the service of humanity and to the development of Anambra State.

Bags of rice and cash gift were  shared to all the elderly, the vulnerable and those living with disabilities who attended the event.
